Love Island Australia’s second season is set to premiere on Channel Nine very soon.

And it looks like the show’s first promotional trailer, which was released on Sunday, may have been heavily inspired by MTV’s Ex On the Beach

As host Sophie Monk sat on a cloud as cupid in a gold mini-dress, the advert cut to an aerial graphic of a heart shaped tropical island to build excitement.

However, the shot is very similar to one used each year by MTV’s Ex On The Beach, who cut to their own heart shaped tropical island.

Although the concepts look identical, the MTV one is at a slightly different perspective, and looks more polished than the Love Island graphic.

MTV first used their version of the graphic in 2014, for the show’s first season.

Daily Mail Australia has contacted Channel Nine for comment.

Last year, Love Island Australia host Sophie Monk claimed the UK version of the show ‘copied’ the concept of their air hostess promotional video for season one.

Shortly after Sophie dressed as up for the steamy ad that was filmed on a plane, UK host Caroline Flack donned a similar outfit while also boarding an aircraft.

In an interview with OK! magazine at the time, Sophie gushed: ‘Our promo looks so good. I’m so proud of Channel 9! Even the UK copied the promo!’

However, the bosses behind the UK version of the show denied this.

A spokesperson from ITV told Daily Mail Australia at the time: ‘That’s not the case – our promo concept has been finalised for months.’

Although it is currently unknown when Love Island Australia will return to screens, it is not expected to be too far away.

Applications for the show are still open to people from ages 18-35 who are ‘sexy, young and single’ and ‘truly looking for love.’
